Tonight on August the 7th 2007 Barry Bonds has passed the great Hank Aaron as the all time homerun leader. As I watched this from my couch I had to stand up and applaud Bonds on something that has never been done before. Hitting the all time most homeruns in Major League history. Regardless of all the speculations of the things surrounding Bonds I beleive the right thing to do is applaud Bonds for the amazing acheivement he has achieved. They showed Hank Aaron on their scoreboard with a moving speech to Barry and it showed a lot of class. So like I said as fans of baseball the best thing to do is show the same class as Hank Aaron and be happy for Barry Bonds.

The Yankees are really on a roll as of late as they have done what most of us thought was out of the question for this season. The Yankees are right in the wildcard chase now and just a month or so ago no one thought they would be where they are now. With A-Rod getting his 500th career homerun out of the way the focus will be all about winning games and the distraction of the 500th homerun is now behind. Not to say the Yankees werent focusing on winning but anytime a player is close to a milestone like that their is going to be that extra something hanging over and 500 homeruns is a great milestone. The Yankees are sending the vetaran Roger Clemens to the mound tonight to face the Blue Jays. Clemens who has been rattled lately is 3-5 with a 4.23 era. Clemens will need to put together a solid performance tonight to help lead the Yankees over the Blue Jays in Toronto. The Blue Jays will be sending Josh Towers to the mound. Towers is 5-8 with a 5.17 era so far this season. Tonight should be a good game as lastnight was decided by just 1 run as the Yankees won 5-4. Look or excitement in this game tonight!

So I missed writting a match up of the day yesterday and im late on it today but ive been pretty busy with playing baseball on my own team. But now with the weekend games over its time to relax and watch some baseball. The Mets and Cubs have been slugging it out the past 2 days and tonight they will play game 3 of the weekend series. Tom Glavine gets the start tonight for the Mets and he is going for a big mile stone tonight. Glavine is 1 win shy of his 300th win. Baseball fans should watch this game because it is another great opertunity to watch and witness a potential great achievement. Glavine is 9-6 this season and he would have had his 300th career win in his last outing but the Mets bullpen blew the lead. The Cubs will be sending Jason Marquis to the mound to face the Mets. Marquis is 8-6 with a 4.22 era this season. Tonights game should be very exciting, yesterdays game and Fridays game were the same score but with each team getting a win. The Cubs lost 6-2 on Friday and the Mets won yesterday 6-2. Tonight will be a good game and as I said before a great chance to see Glavine get a chance to get career win 300.

Are the Yankees really getting what they had hoped for with bringing Roger Clemens back to New York for one more season? I have had my doubts. But first let me say that I have always been a fan of Clemens and I do beleive he is one of the greatest pitchers in Major League history. Clemens currently has 351 wins and 4,647 strike outs in his hall of fame career. I just question if he can have a good strong winning season anymore like Clemens is known for. The pressure of even being a New York Yankee and pitching in New York is enough to really ride on someone and maybe even tough for a veteran like Clemens. Clemens last outting which was yesterday against the White Sox, he only lasted 1.2 innings in which he gave up 9 hits and 3 earned runs and no strike outs. The no strike outs is a big one for someone who is known for striking batters out and when you think of a pitcher lasting just 1.2 innings Roger Clemens would not even come to mind. Now I know everyone has their good days and their bad days. We will just have to wait and see if the Yankees exspensive 44 year old will work out the way the Yankees hope for. Currently this season Clemens is 3-5 with a 4.23 era. Last season in Houston Clemens finished the season 7-6 with a 2.30 era. Clemens is a hall of famer no question their but like ive said before I along with many others just question if he can still be succesful like he has always been known to be.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will be in Los Angeles tonight to take on the Dodgers. This is a battle of first and second place in the NL West. The Diamondbacks have a 1 game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West. The Diamondbacks just finished off a 3 game series with the Padres. Yesterday the Padres really handed it to the Diamonbacks as the Padres won 11-0. The Dodgers are fresh off hosting a 3 game series against the Giants. The Dodgers dropped 2 of the games to the Giants and honestly should have lost all 3 if the bullpen of the Giants hadnt blown the lead that would have given Giants rookie Time Lincecum his 5th straight victory. Tonight both teams look to regroup and get another win in the win colum. On the hill tonight for the visisting Diamondbacks is Doug Davis. Davis is 7-10 with a 4.11 era so far this season. This lefty has given up a bit more hits then innings pitched this season and he will have to try and keep the Dodgers off base tonight. On the hill for the Dodgers tonight is Chad Billinglsey. Billingsley is 7-1 with a 3.65 era. Billingsley has looked pretty good with 74 strike outs to 79 innings pitched. It will be a battle of these two division leading teams. I expect some excitement and great games out of this 3 game weekend series.

The Phillies have been hanging tough with the Cubs so far this series. The Phillies do need a win today to split the series with the Cubs at 2 games a peice. Lastnights walk off walk for the Cubs in the bottom of the night was a tough way to lose for the Phillies and you can bet they are gonna come out with everything they can in todays afternoon game. On the mound for the Phillies today is right hander Kyle Lohse. Lohse is 6-12 with a 4.58 era this season. Lohse has given up a lot of hits compared to his innings pitched and that is one of the main reasons why his era is not so great. As for the Cubbies they are now tied for first place with the Brewers after their win lastnight and a Brewers loss. You know the Cubs have been playing some very good baseball ever since the dug out brawl and the Piniella explostion at the umpire. On the mound today for the Cubs is lefty Sean Marshall. Marshall is 5-4 with a 3.10 era this season. This afternoons game should be an exciting game and a good end of the series as both of these teams will slug it out in Chicago.
