Mets at Brewers todays match up of the day…

July 31, 2007 § Leave a comment

I picked this game for todays match up of the day for one reason really. Tom Glavine will try to get career win 300 tonight in Milwaukee. Glavine has had a hall of fame career no doubt about it and the 300th win would just be another great peice to add to Glavines great career. Glavine is 9-6 this season with a 4.51 era. The Mets are coming off a day of rest after splitting a 4 game series with the Nationals. The Brewers struggeled in their last 4 games which was a series with the Cardinals where they won game 1 and then lost the last 3 games. The Brewers also had Monday off and they look to turn things around with sending Jeff Suppan to the hill. Suppan is 8-9 with a 5.08 era so far this season. Tonights game should be good and I mostly look to this game to see if Glavine gets to win 300. Lots of exciting things in baseball this week.

Tigers at A’s todays match up of the day…

Yes I have once again picked the Tigers game as my match up of the day. I have picked this game for a couple of reasons. One the Tigers have really been struggling and lastnight Bonderman who was 10-2 was having a very difficult time and his outing was cut very short. My second reason is tonight Tiger’s pitcher Jordan Tata will make his first Major League start. Tata a Texas native will have a challenge ahead of him tonight. He will have to pitch a good game to get the Tigers back in the win collum. The A’s will turn to Joe Blanton as he will take the mound for the Athletics. Blanton is 8-7 with a 3.69 era so far this season. The A’s also have Huston Street back. Street was on the DL but returned to action recently. He ended up with the loss yesterday in the tight game with the Mariners when he gave up a couple of runs. Street is also another Texas native and former longhorn. The Tigers will hope to not have to face him today late in the game. Street has 23 strike outs in just 20 innings pitched this season. Now that he is getting healthy he will be very hard to beat when he returns to his full time closer roll. This is an important game for both teams as they both look to get back on the winning edge.Huston Street

Houston we have a problem!

I almost couldnt believe this and it hurts that it is for real. Astros starting pitcher Jason Jennings just gave up 11 earned runs in the top of the first inning to the Padres. I cant even remember or think of another major league pitcher that has given up this many runs in just .2 innings pitched. Mark McLemore was brought in with 2 outs in the top of the first inning to bail out Jennings. I think this is gonna really hurt Jennings confidence next time he takes the mound and what I dont get is why Garner let him stay out their that long. Anyways the Astros will get a big test now on their bullpen and this is just coming a day after the Astros traded away reliever Dan Wheeler to the Devil Rays for 3rd baseman Ty Wiggington. This game is currently in the top of the 3rd with the Padres leading 12-0. Houston we have a problem.houston-astros.jpg

Tigers at Angels todays match up of the day…

The Tigers who are on a bit of a skid right now losing their last 5 out of 7 games, will take on the Angels tonight for game 3 of the 3 game series. The Angels won lastnight 10-3 and Tigers are left frustrated with their struggling play as of late. Tonight Jeremy Bonderman will get the start for the Tigers and he hopes to turn things back around and get the Tigers back in the right direction. Bonderman has been great this season he is 10-2 with a 3.69 era. Taking the mound for the Angels today will be Dustin Moseley. Moseley the Texas native is 4-1 with a 4.06 era this season. Tonights game should be a battle and a good one to watch for sure.Jeremy Bonderman

Happy Birthday A-Rod.

Alex Rodriguez turns 32 today and he is just 1 homerun shy of 500. What an amazing number to be so close to at this age. A-Rod wheather you like him or not is having an amazing season and is really being very productive. A-Rod struggled last season but has really turned it around this year with some very impressive numbers. A-Rod is currently batting .309 with 102 RBI’s and a league leading 35 big fly’s. Im predicting A-Rod to hit atleast 1 homerun tonight agianst the Orioles. So happy birthday A-Rod and congrats on what you are about to achieve.Alex Rodriguez

Lofton back to Clevelend..

July 27, 2007 § Leave a comment

The Indians made a deal with the Texas Rangers this afternoon. Kenny Lofton will be heading back to the Indians for his 3rd time around with them. Kenny Lofton played for Clevelend from 92-96 and 98-01. The Indians traded single a catcher Max Ramirez for the 40 year old Kenny Lofton. Now the next question for the Rangers is if Teixeira is gonna be the next player to head out in a trade. Thier is a lot of talk that Teixeira could be heading to Atlanta, the trade deadline is coming up in just a couple days so we should all know soon whats going to happen around the league.Kenny Lofton
