A’s at Tigers todays match up of the day…

August 10, 2007 § Leave a comment

The Tigers who have been not exactly playing their best baseball as of late welcome the A’s to Detroit tonight for a 4 game series. The Tigers dropped 2 of 3 games to Tampa Bay and are looking to rebound by playing better baseball. Jordan Tata will take the mound for the Tigers tonight. Tata is 1-1 his one win being against these same A’s on July 30th. Tata’s era is 3.75 and this Texas native will look to give the Tigers a solid performance. As for the A’s they are fresh off a day of rest and from winning 2 of 3 games against the Rangers. Taking the mound tonight for the A’s is Joe Blanton. Blanton is 9-8 with a 3.71 era. Blanton gave up 5 earned runs against the Tigers on July 30th. So we have a rematch of the same starting pitchers in this one. The Tigers hope to get the same result as they look to get back on the winning track that they have been on for most of the season. Should be a good game tonight. I look for the Tigers bats to get going in this game and for them to put up some runs on the A’s. Should be a good game tonight in Detroit.

Tigers at A’s todays match up of the day…

July 30, 2007 § Leave a comment

Yes I have once again picked the Tigers game as my match up of the day. I have picked this game for a couple of reasons. One the Tigers have really been struggling and lastnight Bonderman who was 10-2 was having a very difficult time and his outing was cut very short. My second reason is tonight Tiger’s pitcher Jordan Tata will make his first Major League start. Tata a Texas native will have a challenge ahead of him tonight. He will have to pitch a good game to get the Tigers back in the win collum. The A’s will turn to Joe Blanton as he will take the mound for the Athletics. Blanton is 8-7 with a 3.69 era so far this season. The A’s also have Huston Street back. Street was on the DL but returned to action recently. He ended up with the loss yesterday in the tight game with the Mariners when he gave up a couple of runs. Street is also another Texas native and former longhorn. The Tigers will hope to not have to face him today late in the game. Street has 23 strike outs in just 20 innings pitched this season. Now that he is getting healthy he will be very hard to beat when he returns to his full time closer roll. This is an important game for both teams as they both look to get back on the winning edge.Huston Street

Tigers at Angels todays match up of the day…

The Tigers who are on a bit of a skid right now losing their last 5 out of 7 games, will take on the Angels tonight for game 3 of the 3 game series. The Angels won lastnight 10-3 and Tigers are left frustrated with their struggling play as of late. Tonight Jeremy Bonderman will get the start for the Tigers and he hopes to turn things back around and get the Tigers back in the right direction. Bonderman has been great this season he is 10-2 with a 3.69 era. Taking the mound for the Angels today will be Dustin Moseley. Moseley the Texas native is 4-1 with a 4.06 era this season. Tonights game should be a battle and a good one to watch for sure.Jeremy Bonderman

Tim Lincecum

I have become a pretty big Tim Lincecum fan since his Major League Baseball debut on May 6th this season. Lincecum throws very hard and has been very effective and has especially thrown very well in his last 2 starts. Lincecum has recently developed a very good change up to go along with his fastball and curveball. In Lincecum’s last 2 starts which were against the Cubs and the Brewers (both teams are playing and hitting well this season) Lincecum has given up just 1 earned run and struck out 8 in each of those starts. Lincecum is 5-2 with a 3.96 era with 95 strike outs in just 86.1 innings pitched so far this season since his May debut. I enjoy watching Lincecum pitch which for me is one of the benefits for having MLB TV, otherwise I would rarely get to see him pitch cause they dont show Giants cames here in Austin Texas. Just the fact that he is being this effective at the age of 23 makes me believe that he will continue to improve and be even more effective each season as long as he stays healthy. Staying healthy is always the most important thing to think about when talking about pitchers and and athletes in general. Im even willing to compare Lincecum to Verlander of the Detroit Tigers. Verlander is a hard thrower and obviously very productive as a rookie last year which earned him the rookie of the year award last year. I know Lincecum has a ways to go but he has been very impressive this season and he has deffinently won me over as a big fan. I look forward to tuning in to all his starts speaking of which he will be starting tomorrow night against the Braves. So for those out their who may not want to watch a Giants game or be a Giants fan because of Barry Bonds remeber that thier is a very impressive fire ball throwing right hander by the name of Tim Lincecum who pitches for the Giants and is for sure worth watching. I wouldnt be surprised to see him throw a no hitter in his promising career.Tim Lincecum

Tigers at White Sox todays match up of the day…

July 25, 2007 § 1 Comment

The Tigers will be looking to really bounce back tonight against the White Sox after losing both games to the Sox in yesterdays double header. The Tigers will send the veteran Kenny Rogers to the mound tonight to try and shut down the Sox. Rogers is 3-2 this season with a 3.77 era. Heading to the mound for the White Sox is Jose Contreras. Contreras is 5-12 with a 5.76 era. I beleive tonight is the night that the Tigers do bounce back and get their offense to click on all cylinders again. Curtis Granderson is swinging a hot bat right now so I look for him to have a big day at the plate. Jim Thome went 2-2 and 2-3 in yesterdays double header for the White Sox. Tonights game should be good but I do look for the Tigers to get back on the winning edge with tonights game.

Tigers at Twins todays match up of the day

July 19, 2007 § 1 Comment

The Tigers have come into Minnesota and taken the first 2 games of the 3 games series. They are now in position of a clean sweep of the series. The last 2 games have been decided by just 1 run 1-0 and 3-2. The Tigers young tall lefty threw a pretty good 5 innings of work lastnight but got into a little bit of trouble and hit a batter with the bases loaded to force in a run. Miller did strike out 5 and walked 4 in his 5 innings lastnight and it was enough for him to get the win. Today the Tigers send Jeremy Bonderman to the hill and the Twins will send Scott Baker. First pitch is set for 1:10 this afternoon.

Miller to take the hill against the Twins tonight

22 year old Andrew Miller will get the start for the Detroit Tigers tonight. He will be going up against Johan Santana who is really on a roll. He has struck out 133 in 128 innings pitched so far this season. The young hard throwing left hander Andrew Miller will have to be sharp tonight but I think tonight should be an interesting match up. Miller has struck out 31 in 40 innings pitched this season and he has a 4-3 record with a 3.35 era.
