I missed most of the Giants game today cause my team was playing and when I got home I was shocked to see that Lincecum had such a rough outting. Tim Lincecum is amazing and he has some wicked stuff that has just left hitters confused and marveling over his pitching. Most of the teams that have faced Lincecum this year since his May 6th major league debut have said how good he really is. They say he does have some pure good stuff. The Pirates however hit back to back homers off the young rookie right hander after he had shut them out for the first 3 innings. Lincecum pitched 6 innings giving up 9 hits and 6 earned runs and he struck out 8 as positive note. Everyone has their good and bad days and today wasnt one of Lincecums best outtings even though he only walked 1 and struck out 8. Lincecum will bounce back though and get back to dominance he has displayed so far since his call up.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will be in Los Angeles tonight to take on the Dodgers. This is a battle of first and second place in the NL West. The Diamondbacks have a 1 game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West. The Diamondbacks just finished off a 3 game series with the Padres. Yesterday the Padres really handed it to the Diamonbacks as the Padres won 11-0. The Dodgers are fresh off hosting a 3 game series against the Giants. The Dodgers dropped 2 of the games to the Giants and honestly should have lost all 3 if the bullpen of the Giants hadnt blown the lead that would have given Giants rookie Time Lincecum his 5th straight victory. Tonight both teams look to regroup and get another win in the win colum. On the hill tonight for the visisting Diamondbacks is Doug Davis. Davis is 7-10 with a 4.11 era so far this season. This lefty has given up a bit more hits then innings pitched this season and he will have to try and keep the Dodgers off base tonight. On the hill for the Dodgers tonight is Chad Billinglsey. Billingsley is 7-1 with a 3.65 era. Billingsley has looked pretty good with 74 strike outs to 79 innings pitched. It will be a battle of these two division leading teams. I expect some excitement and great games out of this 3 game weekend series.

The Giants and Dodgers will face off tonight in game 2 of this 3 game series tonight in Los Angeles. Dodgers ace Brad Penny gave up 3 runs lastnight to the Giants and thats all it would take. The Giants handed Penny just his second loss of the season as the Giants held on to win 3-1. Tonight the story isnt just about Barry Bonds, atleast it isnt the story for me. As always I look forward to seeing the Giants rookie right hander Tim Lincecum pitch. Tonight Lincecum will be looking for win 7 on the season and win 7 of his career. I have done a write up on Lincecum before and he is going to really be something special. His teamates have already given him the nickname “Franchise”. Lincecum has a very good fastball that he can throw in the high 90’s consistently through the game and his recently perfected change up adds to his very good curveball that he throws in the high 80’s makes a combination that keeps batters guessing. Lincecum is 6-2 with a 3.90 era with 100 strike outs since his Major League debut on May 6 this season. As for the Dodgers they will be sending Mark Hendrickson to the mound to face the Giants. Hendrickson is 4-5 with a 4.58 era with 72 strike outs this year. Now will Bonds hit a homerun tonight against the Dodgers and tie Hank or maybe even break the record tonight? Who knows. But what I do know is that its going to be a good game to watch and Lincecum will add more strike outs to his statistics. A couple other facts about the starting pitchers tonight is that Tim Lincecum is the second fastest Giant to get career strike out 100. Lincecum has reached 100 strike outs in just 92.1 innings pitched since his Major League debut on May 6th this year. Also Lincecum went to the University of Washington where he became the Pac-10 record holder in strike outs and Hendrickson went to Washington State, and both pitchers are Washinton natives. It all sets up to be a great game tonight and you can see it on ESPN2 at 9 central.

Will Bonds go deep today? Will he get closer to the record? You can never predict these types of things and i dunno if he will hit any homeruns tonight. Maybe the pressure is building up on Bonds and its effecting his at bats. Anyways to be honest im more excited about watching rookie right hander Tim Lincecum pitch against the bats of Chipper Jones, and Andruw Jones. Lincecum takes the hill for the Giants tonight with a 5-2 record and a 3.96 era with 95 strike outs in just 86.1 innings pitched. Lincecum has become even more deadly since he added a very good change up to go along with heater and the curve ball. Heading to the mound for Atlanta is Buddy Carlyle. Carlyle is 5-2 with a 4.05 era with 40 strike outs in 60 innings pitched this season. The Giants edged out the Braves lastnight 2-1 and look to Lincecum to bring the heat against the Braves.

I have become a pretty big Tim Lincecum fan since his Major League Baseball debut on May 6th this season. Lincecum throws very hard and has been very effective and has especially thrown very well in his last 2 starts. Lincecum has recently developed a very good change up to go along with his fastball and curveball. In Lincecum’s last 2 starts which were against the Cubs and the Brewers (both teams are playing and hitting well this season) Lincecum has given up just 1 earned run and struck out 8 in each of those starts. Lincecum is 5-2 with a 3.96 era with 95 strike outs in just 86.1 innings pitched so far this season since his May debut. I enjoy watching Lincecum pitch which for me is one of the benefits for having MLB TV, otherwise I would rarely get to see him pitch cause they dont show Giants cames here in Austin Texas. Just the fact that he is being this effective at the age of 23 makes me believe that he will continue to improve and be even more effective each season as long as he stays healthy. Staying healthy is always the most important thing to think about when talking about pitchers and and athletes in general. Im even willing to compare Lincecum to Verlander of the Detroit Tigers. Verlander is a hard thrower and obviously very productive as a rookie last year which earned him the rookie of the year award last year. I know Lincecum has a ways to go but he has been very impressive this season and he has deffinently won me over as a big fan. I look forward to tuning in to all his starts speaking of which he will be starting tomorrow night against the Braves. So for those out their who may not want to watch a Giants game or be a Giants fan because of Barry Bonds remeber that thier is a very impressive fire ball throwing right hander by the name of Tim Lincecum who pitches for the Giants and is for sure worth watching. I wouldnt be surprised to see him throw a no hitter in his promising career.
