The Round Rock Express recently called up young left hander Troy Patton from double a Corpus Christi recently and tonight i was able to watch im pitch in person. I was impressed with his performance and how he bounced back from a shakey first inning. He began the game with walking the lead off batter. He was hit hard a couple times in the inning with some fly balls that carried pretty deep towards the fence. The wild part of the first inning was when Oklahoma Redhawks Freddy Guzman stole home! I havent seen something like that in a long time and especially at this level of baseball. After the first inning Patton Settled into a groove and ending up giving up just 2 hits and 1 unearned run and striking out 6 in 7 innings of work tonight. The Astros need to continue to work with young pitchers like Patton cause they can deffinently use it. I wouldnt be surprised to see Patton make it to the major leagues pretty soon. The Express gave Patton some great offensive work and the Express rolled over the Oklahoma Redhawks (triple a affiliate of the Texas Rangers) 9-3.Troy Patton
